University in AZ 1:Character
The university English language course started.
Due to peak of COVID, classes are online.
Mole's class is small with only 9 to 14 students.
Most of them are Saudis, and the rest Asians (mainly Chinese) including Mole.
Arizona is popular among Saudis because of same desert climate.
Online lesson reflects the character of each country.
When teacher asks a question,
The ones who speak most are,
Saudi Guys.
Even during online classes, they speak loud and clear as if we are all in a bar.
Saudi men who value good communication are excellent speakers.
However,
since they speak and speak as if they are competing each other,
usually the topic deviates from the main subject.
(Teacher)
"So then what are YOUR opinions?"
Teacher, who initially was not used to online, sometimes got confused.
In fact, it was not Zoom that was freezing but the Chinese Guys.
Come on, you can move a little bit! (Lol)
Saudi guys really love to talk. It's a lot of fun when they are classmates, but they speak without proper grammar and often derail so the class can get stuck. In fact, despite same English level as other students, the Saudis spoke overwhelmingly well. In contrast, why were Chinese guys so quiet? "Schools in China are strict, teachers are respected so we are not comfortable expressing free opinion!" However, when it comes to a theme they are interested in, they talk as if they are different human being ... 😅 I will share the story in another opportunity .... ( Next time, American University: National Pattern 2 ▶︎ )
